Qualification Description
This qualification is the second of five levels of training and assessment (TAA) qualifications in PNG. It has units of competencies describing the skillsets of an assessor and instructor.
These units contain the performance standards for facilitating group and individual learning and for assessing competence.
Training Outcome
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Facilitate or deliver training to a group
- Facilitate individual learning and development
- Conduct competency based training
Target group
This qualification is aimed at those who deliver training and or those who want to pursue a career in training and assessment.
Pre-requisite
Those intending to take this qualification must satisfy the following:
- Employer’s & supervisor’s endorsement
- Currently involved in or have some experience in training delivery
- Possession of TOT certificate or equivalent is an advantage
Delivery
The qualification will be delivered using competency-based training and assessment approaches. It will involve face to face sessions using participatory and experiential learning methods.
Learning activities contain simulated or work related tasks to ensure that the competencies gained are practical and immediately applicable.
The program duration is 15 days contact time with a minimum of 1 month workplace assessment.
The qualification can be delivered as a whole program or tailored to meet client needs.
Assessment
Assessment is evidence-based. A portfolio of evidence collected from both the workplace and training room will be used to assess competency. Participants will be required to demonstrate the skills, knowledge-based questions, or participating in presentations or role-plays.
They can liaise with the assessor on the method to use and which evidences to collect. Rules of evidence and principles assessment apply.
Workplace Visit
This is an important part of the training. It is important that you seek your supervisor’s assistance for the workplace assessment. At the workplace, the assessor will:
- Make observation
- Conduct interview
- Do a job role checklist
- Collect portfolio of role/task evidence
- Collect 3rd part report
Certification
A statement of attainment is awarded for satisfactorily completing a unit or a set of units in a qualification. An NQF Level 2 Certificate is awarded for successfully fulfilling the requirements of the whole qualification.
Training Evaluation
To measure impact of this training, you will participate in 5-step Evaluation process.
- Pre-program – Before the program delivery
- Reaction and learning evaluation – mid or after delivery
- Workplace evaluation – transfer of skills at the workplace
- Evidence evaluation – Measuring the impact of training & feedback
